QS World University Rankings awards PUCPR in the “Recognition of Improvement” category

Last Thursday (22/09), Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná received the prestigious “Recognition of Improvement” award during the QS Higher Ed Summit: Americas 2022. The award was received by PUCPR’s Provost for Research, Graduate Studies, and Innovation, Professor Paula Cristina Trevilatto (see picture above).

In the 2023 edition of the ranking, PUCPR was ranked among Latin America’s 100 best higher education institutions. Among 428 universities analyzed by the indicator, PUCPR ranked 98th, rising 19 positions compared to last year’s survey.

The event was organized by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the world’s leading provider of services, analytics, and insight to the global higher education sector. The QS Latin America Rankings: Recognition of Improvement award is given to institutions for their excellence in higher education. PUCPR has significantly improved the QS World University Rankings Latin America 2023.

“Improving in a QS ranking means improving institutionally and in relation to partner HEIs. This involves reputation, research, and the ability to attract and retain international students and faculty. It takes time, and this award recognizes institutional efforts to best reach its students.” – Mr. Drew MacFarlane, QS Ranking Manager.

Additionally, during the event, Professor Marcelo Távora Mira, Director for PUCPR International, also participated as a speaker at the “Research for All” panel discussion. The discussion focused on research topics such as research relevance, public perception, public policies, local and global research, preparation of scientists, connecting researchers, and research funding.
