New programs are usually approved with grade 3; programs graded 3 for two consecutive 4-years evaluation period are also disqualified. Programs 4 and 5 are considered of regional and national excellence, respectively. Finally, CAPES grant grades 6 and 7 to graduate programs of exceptional quality and international impact.
