Government of Paraná announces measures to face COVID-19

A press conference was held in Curitiba this Monday (March 16), in which the Governor of Paraná state, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, has announced emergency measures in order to face the COVID-19 outbreak. The main measures, established by decree signed by the Governor, aim to combat the epidemic in Paraná region and its borders. The decree includes actions aimed at schools and universities, venues for cultural events, hospitals and penitentiaries.
The Measures
Elementary and secondary school operations (public and private institutions) will be suspended from this Friday (March 20), until further notice. It is also highly recommended that the measure is followed by private schools and universities. Over the next few days, museums, libraries, theaters and cultural centers in Paraná will be closed for an indefinite period. Visits to hospitals, prisons and socio-educational centers are also suspended. It is also strongly recommended canceling of any type of gatherings with 50 or more people.
The Coordination of the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (Comec) will be in charge of implementing prophylaxis measures and issuing recommendations related to public transportation. The public administration authorities must share essential data to the identification of confirmed or suspected cases, as well as legal entities of private law when the data are requested by the officials.
Finally, the Health, Agriculture and Public Security state offices will develop operations coordinate, guide, investigate and monitor the status of the pandemic along Paraná’s geographical limits.
