International Module for Palliative Care in Seville, Spain
This past November, faculty from the School of Medicine and Life Sciences participated in another highly successful international module on Palliative Care in Seville, Spain. The program was designed for healthcare professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in palliative care, blending academic rigor with practical, hands-on learning.
Professors Ana Beatriz Costa and Jose Maria Galan Serna Gonzalez (Centro de Enfermería San Juan de Dios/University of Seville—Spain) have fostered an incredible collaboration that has thrived for several years, delivering impactful learning experiences to participants.
In addition to theoretical classes, the module offered practical immersion in Palliative Care Services throughout Seville. What sets this program apart is its unique Spanish experience, featuring expert instruction from professors at the University of Seville and leading Spanish palliative care professionals. Participants also benefited from clinical experiences in hospitals and institutions across the city and earned a certificate recognized throughout the European Union.
This year’s cohort included 12 participants, a diverse group of professionals comprising psychologists, pharmacists, physicians, theologians, undergraduate medical students, and nurses. Participants hailed from Curitiba, various cities in the interior of Paraná, Joinville, and Brasília, enriching the program with their varied perspectives and expertise. The International Module in Seville is a transformative experience for professionals dedicated to advancing their skills and making a difference in Palliative Care.
