PUCPR holds another double degree ceremony
On November 21, PUCPR held a special graduation ceremony for those students who have successfully completed their double degree program. Students have received a second diploma from our following international partners and programs: Universitá degli Studi di Ferrara (Italy), from the Architecture and Urbanism program; Universitat de VIC (Spain), from the Advertising program; Universidade de Minho (Portugal), from Civil Engineering program; St. Mary’s University (United Kingdom), from International Business Program (IBP).
For the Rector of PUCPR, Br. Rogério Renato Mateucci, graduating with a double degree, is a recognition of this path that began back in 2009: “We have several internationalization programs, and PUCPR was recognized as one of the Brazilian universities that most promotes internationalization for its faculty members and students.”
PUCPR offers its students the opportunity for academic internationalization and double degrees in several partner universities. Currently, PUCPR holds 37 double degree agreements in 15 different fields, such as International Management, Agronomy, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Philosophy, Law, and many others.
The International Business Program (IBP) student, Gustavo Cardona e Almeida, received the diploma from St. Mary’s University, located in London, England. Upon the program’s completion, the student highlighted that even though this experience was very challenging due to the pandemic scenario, he has learned how to deal with different cultures and people. “In addition, I also had great contact with other professors (from PUCPR and England), and this enabled a very interesting academic bond between the institutions.” Besides this outstanding experience and completing the master’s program, Gustavo received an invitation to continue his studies as a doctorate candidate at the English institution.
The PUCPR International’s Director, Prof. Marcelo Mira, mentioned that one of the great achievements of the University was the institutional culture change towards internationalization promotion.
“A university that does not prepare itself to form citizens inserted in the community in a global way will fail at its primary goal. Fortunately, PUCPR became aware of the future, and since then, we offer internationalization at home and abroad. The process tends to expand more and more, as it should be”.
